CL Climate: Past, Present & Future

The 2010 Young Scientist Outstanding Poster Paper (YSOPP) Award is awarded to Nube Gonzalez-Reviriego for the poster/PICO entitled:

Northern Hemisphere Teleconnection indices simulated with CMIP3 (Gonzalez-Reviriego, N.; Rodriguez-Puebla, C.; Rodriguez-Fonseca, B.)

Nube Gonzalez-Reviriego is a PhD student at the University of Salamanca, Department of Atmospheric Physics, Spain, supervised by Concepcion Rodriguez-Puebla and Belen Rodriguez-Fonseca. Her research focuses on Northern Hemisphere Teleconnection indices using climate models to evaluate future change. The poster analyzes Teleconnection Patterns estimated from CMIP3 models using 20CM and A1B experiments. The patterns are obtained by using Partial Least Square method. Appart from the documented northern shift of the NAO, the results show how this pattern projects an increase of the indice at a rate of 0.10 decade. About the EA, its southern center spreads over all tropical areas with an increasing index of 0.13 decade. Also, the EATL/WRUS and SCAND patterns show more weaken structures.
