Applications to host a Distinguished Lecture are open from 14 May 2026 until 16 June 2026.

The Distinguished Lectures for Universities scheme is open to higher education institutions. Applicants should select speakers from the General Assembly GIFT workshops, from 2021 onward - click here to see all applicable workshops.

To submit a proposal, please fill in the form below and press "Submit application". Fields marked with * are required.

Please read the events call for applications carefully to make sure you are eligible to apply.

Competitive proposals will:

  1. articulates the purpose and reasoning for behind speaker selection,
  2. state how the lecture aligns with the applicant’s educational goals and curriculum,
  3. what measures will be taken to maximise the lecture’s outreach potential.
Applications must be written in English and meet the three criteria stated above.

This document must include the selection of a first and second choice of speakers, the proposed dates, and information which addresses the criteria given in the call, and an official letter from the applicant’s organisation approving the speaker invitation (file size max. 10 MB)

Data privacy

Your name and a valid email address are required to add your submission to our database. Please make sure to validate your entry (a link will be sent to the given email address) within 10 days, or your submission will be automatically deleted from our database.

All data provided will be used during the review process and may be shared with invited judges and EGU staff. We respect your privacy and will never share your personal details with any other third party. To improve the review process, we may store your submission data up to five years. After this date, your information will be automatically removed from our database.
