Description

As the climate warms, glaciers – the biggest reservoir of fresh water on the planet – are melting. But some are melting faster than others. Inspire your students with this geology resource that explains what glaciers are, why some are melting faster than others and what would happen if the polar ice caps melt. Included is a summary of a current research project, an interview with glaciologist Dr Ellyn Enderlin and a career guide for students interested in geology. The activity sheet includes discussion points – seven questions the students can answer in groups of individually –, and instructions on how to simulate ice flow.
