Call for abstracts to the EGU27 General Assembly now open!
28 October 2026
Taking place on 4–9 April, the EGU General Assembly 2027 will bring together geoscientists from all over the world for an hybrid meeting covering all disciplines in the Earth, planetary, and space sciences. EGU aims to provide a welcoming and interactive forum where scientists, especially early career scientists, can present their work and discuss their ideas with experts in all fields of geoscience.
EGU is pleased to confirm that our General Assembly will once again be available in a combined on-site and virtual format in 2027, following our aims to broaden the accessibility and flexibility of the event. The meeting will take place both on-site in Vienna (Austria) and virtually, as we continue to evolve the General Assembly into a fully hybrid occasion. For the first time, EGU will also be trialing a Regional Hub in Perth, Australia. The goal of this trial is to explore the possibility of broadening international participation without needing to travel, partnering with and promoting our regional siblings and friends in other parts of the world, and providing support for in-person networking and presentation, whilst keeping our attendees connected, remotely, with the Vienna meeting. For more information about the Perth Hub, visit the EGU27 Regional Hub: Perth page.
With this announcement, EGU and our conference partner, Copernicus Meetings, are opening the call for abstracts for the General Assembly 2027. The deadline for abstract submission is 12 January 2027 at 13:00 CET. Authors will be limited to one abstract as first author (with a few exceptions). All first authors must also be a member of EGU for 2027 to submit an abstract (you can buy a 2027 membership at any time when you submit your abstract). The Abstract Processing Charge (APC) has been kept at €50 per abstract submitted.
The Roland Schlich travel support grant will once again be available to on-site attendees (deadline for application is 1 December 2026 13.00 CET), with a registration-fee waiver scheme also being implemented for virtual participants. For those who need additional financial support or waivers due to caring responsibilities, disability needs, a career gap (unemployment) or other extenuating circumstances, the EDI Participation Support Fund is also available. To check your eligibility for these schemes, please visit the EGU27 webpage on participation support.
We are looking forward to seeing many of you again next year, both on-site in Vienna and virtually for those who prefer to join online. We are excited to offer a range of opportunities, to take time to connect with each other, and discuss the cutting-edge science our community is known for.
