The work presented at EGU 2023 discusses turbulent mixing during the passage of Typhoon Hinnamnor (2022) and a mesoscale cold eddy by estimating the Richardson number at depths of 20 and 75 m. The observation results during the passage of Typhoon Hinnamnor indicate that the peak of the Richardson number in the probability distribution was below a critical value of 0.25 at a depth of 20 m, implying strong mixing, and typhoon-induced turbulent mixing occurred at depths shallower than 75 m.

In February, Elias Symeonakis will highlight some of his key takehome messages from the EGU’s 2022 Science-Policy Pairing Scheme in the European Parliament. A few conversation starters will be provided to start the breakout room discussions based on this, but participants should feel free to “go with the flow” and talk about other topics of interest.
