27 May 2015 The Himalayas (South Asia) are home to the largest volume of ice outside the polar regions. The Dudh Kosi basin in Nepal Himalaya hosts some of the world’s highest mountain peaks, including Mt Everest, and a huge number of glaciers. There are over 400 km 2 of glacier area, which is about half the size of the German capital, Berlin.

15 March 2021 The European Geosciences Union ( EGU ) is opening applications for the sixth edition of its annual Public Engagement Grants scheme, which aims to celebrate and recognise excellent science communication in the Earth, planetary, and space sciences. The grants, an initiative of the EGU Outreach Committee, are awarded to EGU members interested in developing an outreach project to raise awareness of the geosciences outside the scientific community.

He is currently Professor in the Natural History Museum, University of Oslo. Gradstein has also been very active in professional activities, serving as Chair of IGCP Project 181 and the ICS-IUGS Committee on Quantitative Stratigraphy (1985–1993), as well as being Chair of the International Commission on Stratigraphy (ICS) from 2000 to 2008.

Many small problems with the BBB -based chats quickly escalated to major connection issues in the first time block, and we had to switch over to Zoom in a very short time span.

She holds a PhD in Human Geography from Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München, Germany.
