15 March 2021 The European Geosciences Union ( EGU ) is opening applications for the sixth edition of its annual Public Engagement Grants scheme, which aims to celebrate and recognise excellent science communication in the Earth, planetary, and space sciences. The grants, an initiative of the EGU Outreach Committee, are awarded to EGU members interested in developing an outreach project to raise awareness of the geosciences outside the scientific community.

Raquel Nieto AS Atmospheric Sciences The 2011 Division Outstanding Young Scientist Award is awarded to Raquel Nieto for her outstanding contribution to the understanding of the moisture sources and precipitation in the atmospheric system. I am a member of Environmental Physics Laboratory (EPhysLab) at the University of Vigo in Ourense, Spain, since 2000. Atmospheric science and climatology are the major research lines in my daily work.

Currently, the co-occurrence and dependence of different flood drivers in coastal deltas are not accounted for in global flood risk assessments, while extreme water levels in ~20% of coastal deltas globally are the result of compound surge and discharge drivers.
