Afterwards, he held a post-doctoral position at the same department. Since 2016, he is a Lecturer (Research Fellow) in Applications of Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) at the School of Computing and Engineering of the University of West London. His area of expertise is the development of GPR-based methodologies and the use of complementary non-destructive testing techniques in Civil Engineering and the Geosciences.

Home / Awards & medals / John Dalton Medal / 2006 / Marc Parlange
Most recently he became the Editor-in-Chief of Water Resources Research. He has been very active in the EGU. He attended each of the annual meetings for the past 6 years with his entire group of students, and over the past 3 years co-organized a sessions dealing with ‘Scaling and subgrid-scale physics in the geosciences’.

Home / Awards & medals / Stephan Mueller Medal / 2017 / Cees W. Passchier
Early in his career, Cees Passchier realised the importance of understanding ductile flow in rocks, and made important contributions to the analysis of non-coaxial flow in shear zones, discussing spinning flow regimes, deformation paths in shear zones, the fabric attractor, and vorticity and strain analysis using Mohr diagrams.
Home / Awards & medals / Outstanding Young Scientist Awards / 2005 / David Dobson
In addition, he is developing new in situ techniques to measure the rheology of mantle minerals under very low strain-rates, using neutron-diffraction monitoring of elastic strain. These data will be vital in understanding the coupling mechanisms between crustal and mantle motions and underpinning numerical models of mantle convection.
Home / Awards & medals / Outstanding Student Poster and PICO (OSPP) Awards / 2019 / Verónica Morales-Márquez
Her background is in Civil Engineering but she is doing her thesis in Physical Oceanography. She has worked in the field of coastal management, numerical model of sediment transport and in the study of wave climate. Her current research is focused in the influence of Ekman and Stokes drift in the dispersion and mixing properties of the ocean surface.
