She completed her PhD in rock mechanics at the University of Aberdeen in 2016, and she worked as a geological consultant and as a postdoctoral researcher at University of Aberdeen. She has taken multiple career breaks while raising three children and worked to promote ways that scientific institutions/communities can better support the co-existence of academic and family-life.

The series focuses on bringing in interdisciplinary participants in meteorology, hydrology, geomorphology and the broad natural hazards sciences, having traditionally been held in conjunction with activities of the EGU Natural Hazards Division. Thirteen of these conferences were organised from 1999 to 2011, each hosted by a different country.

Beyond his individual research, Ide has demonstrated exceptional leadership in the geophysics community. He has actively worked to unite seismic and geodetic researchers, most notably by leading the "Science of Slow-to-Fast Earthquakes" project in Japan, which fosters collaboration among dozens of institutions.

Hereby, the so-called Colour Index (CI), i.e. the intensity ratio of the scattered sun light at two different wavelengths, is used to investigate the occurrence of PSCs. With the help of the radiative transfer model McArtim, the variation in CI is analysed in the UV and visible spectral range.

Domenico Giardini and Prof. Xiaodong Ma within the Seismology and Geodynamics (SEG) group. He started his doctoral studies in 2019, after his completion of the IDEA League Joint Master’s programme in Applied Geophysics at ETH Zürich, TU Delft, and RWTH Aachen University. Kai’s research focuses on geomechanical aspects of Engineered Geothermal Systems (EGS), including stress field measurements, fracture characterization, and hydraulic stimulation experiments.
