This session considers "Technical Aspects of Video Production", and focuses on practical skills in video creation—camera work, lighting, sound, and editing. Participants film short clips and experiment with basic editing tools to build confidence in production techniques. Please note that EGU Workshops are not recorded. Need help?
Home / ECS / About early career scientists (ECS)
The EGU offers a platform for early career scientists to become involved in interdisciplinary research in the Earth, planetary and space sciences, through sessions, social events and short courses at the annual General Assembly in April. The ECS website brings together the opportunities the EGU offers for early career researchers – useful resources, job opportunities and information on how you can get involved in the Union.

Climate and land use change together with growing populations are straining freshwater availability worldwide. Successful water resources management and policy requires an integrative understanding of coupled human and natural system components, and proper characterisation of the multiple and heterogenous sources of uncertainty affecting their (co-)evolution in time. This improved knowledge can be used to build mathematical models and support decision makers in delivering scientifically sound, economically-efficient and socially acceptable policy.

Home / News / Press releases / How social media data and analytics are informing disaster management research
28 January 2026 Munich - January 28, 2026: Social media data are increasingly being analysed to support disaster preparedness, response, and recovery. A new comprehensive NHESS review examines how such data are being used in disaster management research. Far from simply a source of unstructured online content, disaster management in the digital age can be supported by careful analysis of online social-media data, suggests a new paper published today by the EGU journal Natural Hazards and Earth System Sciences (NHESS ) titled “ Social Media for Managing Disasters Triggered by Natural Hazards: A Critical Review of Data Collection Strategies and Actionable Insights .”
