Home / News / Webinars and online events / NP Division Campfire: Perspectives on Climate featuring Michael Mann
We use a combination of observational data and state-of-the-art forced and control climate model simulations to demonstrate the absence of consistent evidence for decadal or longer-term internal oscillatory signals that are distinguishable from climatic noise.

Home / Awards & medals / Arne Richter Awards for Outstanding Early Career Scientists / 2024 / Laura A. Stevens
They pioneered new methods to probe glacier hydrology and dynamics, where they developed collaborations with experimentalists, combining GPS observations with laboratory experiments to infer properties of the subglacial drainage system. Stevens’ work is characterised by an unusual level of creativity, combining a range of techniques from different disciplines. Their excellence and creativity is reflected in their publication and citation record. Stevens is not only an excellent scientist, but also a dedicated teacher and mentor.

Home / Awards & medals / Outstanding Student and PhD candidate Presentation (OSPP) Awards / 2025 / Sahar Jannesarahmadi
Her research focuses on how salt crystallization influences evaporation dynamics from porous surfaces, processes that are important in hydrological and environmental contexts. Her EGU25 presentation reported on an experimental study investigating the effects of wind flow on evaporation dynamics and salt crystallization patterns in porous media.

Digital images of trenches in a mineral made by networks of fungi. The circular feature in the picture on the right is a depression made by the formation of a terminal spore by a mycorrhizal fungus, which was linked to the roots of a maple tree under high CO[~2~].
Home / Awards & medals / Outstanding Student Poster and PICO (OSPP) Awards / 2016 / Benedikt Ahrens
Currently, Benedikt’s research focuses on laboratory investigations of the frequency dependence of the effective elastic properties of fractured rocks. He is further interested in understanding the hydro-mechanical coupling in reservoir rocks during elastic and inelastic deformation.
