Home / Meetings / General Assembly
The annual EGU General Assembly is Europe’s largest and most prominent geosciences event. It attracts more than 16,000 scientists, more than half of which are early career, from all over the world. The meeting’s sessions cover all disciplines in the Earth, planetary and space sciences. Each annual General Assembly typically features more than 16,000 oral, poster and PICOs (interactive presentations that combine the advantages of orals and posters).

No Description From Imaggeo.egu.eu: The Gorropu gorge is the deepest Italian canyon, with walls up to 450 m high. It is located in the "Parco Nazionale del Gennargentu" and it is reachable with a 3 hour hike through beautiful strawberry tree woods. When entering the gorge I was quickly captured by the huge dimensions, but once I arrived in the core of the canyon what astonished me the most was the unbelievable silence. http://imaggeo.egu.eu/view/1516/ Geographic location 9.4808 E, 40.1919 N Go back

Conveners: Rebecca Varney, Silvia Poblador, Elsa Abs. Speakers: Elsa Abs - Elsa is an ECS representative of the Biogeosciences Division and a CNRS researcher at the Laboratory for Sciences of Climate and Environment (LSCE) near Paris, where they lead the ERC Starting Grant project GAMEchange. They use mathematical models at different scales to understand how climate change impacts soil microbes and how microbial adaptation, in turn, modifies biogeochemical cycling and climate.

Home / Media Library / Large release of methane to the atmosphere from a pipeline "blowdown"
During a blowdown, all of the methane from a pipeline is released to the atmosphere so that maintenance or repairs can be done on the pipeline with less risk of explosion. Although methane is invisible to the naked eye, the blowdown can be seen from the water vapor condensing into fog due to the rapid cooling from the release of the methane.
