This medal was established by the Stratigraphy, Sedimentology and Palaeontology Division in recognition of the scientific achievements of Jean Baptiste Lamarck . It is awarded to scientists for their exceptional contributions to stratigraphy, sedimentology or palaeontology. The medal is awarded each year alternating between the three subdivisions so that each third year a stratigrapher, sedimentologist or palaeontologist are awarded.
Home / Education / Educational resources / Can we reveal Earth’s secrets by dating faults?
Dr Dawn Kellett, a research scientist at the Geological Survey of Canada, focuses on methods to accurately determine the ages of geological faults, providing invaluable insights into Earth’s geological evolution. This brochure introduces Dawn's work, offers an insight into careers in geochronology, contains an interview with Dawn and includes an activity sheet that challenges students to investigate geological dating methods.

Home / Outreach / Public Lectures
Each annual lecture provides insight into a topic in the Earth, planetary and space sciences of interest to a broad audience and is delivered by a scientist taking part in the EGU meeting. The evening lecture takes place at a public space in the city centre, such as the Natural History Museum, and is introduced by the EGU President.
