Welcome to the GI Division Campfire on Computing Frontiers in Geosciences. The event will consist of two presentations exploring how emerging computational approaches are transforming the way we study and model the Earth system. The talks will range from High-Performance Computing (HPC) and its applications across the geosciences to the emerging potential of Quantum Computing (QC) for Earth system modelling.
Through concrete examples and future perspectives, the speakers will discuss how increasing computational power is enabling more complex numerical simulations, large-scale modelling experiments, and new approaches to understanding the Earth system. The event will also provide an opportunity to reflect on how next-generation computing technologies may shape geoscientific research in the coming years.
The Campfire will include Q&A sessions with the audience and opportunities for networking. We look forward to exploring these exciting computational frontiers with you!
