GMPV-PS Campfire: Rocks across the Solar System: From planetary differentiation to surface processes
Welcome to the joint Campfire of the Geochemistry, Mineralogy, Petrology & Volcanology (GMPV) and Planetary and Solar System Sciences (PS) divisions!
This joint event brings together four exciting talks exploring processes that connect terrestrial and planetary sciences. From the record of environmental and shock processes preserved in chondrites, to lava tubes
on Venus and the early differentiation of Mars, the Campfire will showcase how mineralogical, geochemical and geological approaches can help us understand the earliest stages of planetary evolution to the
processes shaping planetary surfaces today.
Each talk will be followed by a Q&A, with opportunities for discussion and interaction between the GMPV and PS communities. We look forward to welcoming you and exploring these fascinating topics together!
Conveners:
GMPV and PS Campfire teams
Speakers:
Camila Caviedes (PhD Candidate at the Instituto de Astronomía y Ciencias Planetarias, Universidad de Atacama, Chile) - Balanced Ordinary Chondrites as Universal Standard Sensors for Terrestrial Environmental Processes
