Join us on the first Monday of every month to discuss how researchers can more effectively engage with policymaking, get the scoop on upcoming science for policy opportunities, and virtually mingle in a relaxed, informal environment. You’ll be met with people working at the science-policy interface as well as others who may be interested in doing so!

Each Hangout will feature an expert who is working at the interface of science and policy before dividing participants into breakout rooms to virtually network and continue the discussion! A few conversation starters will be provided to start the breakout room discussions, but participants should feel free to “go with the flow” and talk about other topics of interest.

This time, on 1 December at 14:00, we will be gathered by Marina Cabidoche, EuroGeoSurveys – EGS, European Technology Platform on Sustainable Mineral Resources - ETP SMR. Marina Cabidoche has been a geological engineer specialising in mineral resources since 2015. Since 2023, she has held positions within the European geological community, as Scientific Manager of EuroGeoSurveys and Executive Secretary of ETP SMR. Her experience spans geology, research, exploration, mining, and geothermal energy.

Her presentation will focus on their event “Unlocking Europe’s mineral raw materials potential: New data, new projects, new opportunities”, which brought together policymakers, geological surveys, industry and researchers to discuss how Europe can accelerate its mineral raw materials agenda. The discussions underscored the need for stronger cross-sector cooperation, better geological data and targeted financing to advance exploration and strengthen Europe’s value chain. With new data, innovative tools and successful national approaches on display, the event highlighted how collaboration and coordinated investment are key to unlocking Europe’s mineral potential.
