The 2010 Young Scientist Outstanding Poster Paper (YSOPP) Award is awarded to Jessica Briseño for the poster/PICO entitled:

A space-time ensemble Kalman filter for state and parameter estimation of groundwater transport models (Briseño J.; Herrera, G. S.)

Jessica Briseño is a PhD student in Hydraulic Engineering at the National Autonomous University of México. She graduated as a Civil Engineer and obtained her Master degree in Environmental Engineering at the National Polytechnic Institute in México. Currently, her research focuses on an ensemble Kalman filter applying to achieve parameter estimation using prior space-time covariance matrix, obtained from the stochastic model. She is supervised by Prof. Dr. Graciela Herrera. The poster on the EGU 2010 presented a method to extend the space-time ensemble Kalman filter proposed by Herrera, to estimate the hydraulic conductivity, together with hydraulic head and contaminant concentration, and its application in a synthetic example.
