Description

Dr Babette Hoogakker, based at Heriot-Watt University in the UK, leads the FARGO project, which studies past dissolved oxygen concentrations in the Pacific Ocean. The aim is to improve understanding of the longer-term seawater oxygen cycle and improve climate models of the future.

This brochure introduces Babette’s work, offers an insight into careers in palaeoceanography, contains interviews with Babette and her colleague, Catherine, and includes an activity sheet that challenges students to plan a palaeoceanography research project to contribute to the UN Sustainable Development Goal ‘Life Below Water’.
