Fully-funded PhD position in Water Resources Planning and Management – Singapore

The Singapore University of Technology and Design is Singapore’s fourth autonomous university, established in collaboration with Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Hydrological Sciences (HS)
The Pillar of Engineering Systems and Design, Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD), offers one fully-funded PhD position in areas broadly related to hydro-climatic variability, water-energy nexus, water resources management, and data-driven control. Potential topics of research include:
- Characterizing the vulnerability of hydropower systems to heat waves;
- Quantifying the water-energy nexus in thermopower and hydropower systems;
- Modelling the return period of extreme weather events and their impact on power supply and distribution systems;
- Developing adaptive reservoir management schemes.
Applicants must hold a Bachelors and/or Masters degree in engineering, science, or applied mathematics, with a good academic background in hydrology, optimization and statistics/probability.
The start time is mid-September 2018.
