Estuary Research Center, Shimane University.

Environmental Fluid Dynamic Research Division, Estuary Research Center, Shimane University.
The Estuary Research Center (EsReC) is the only research center in Japan devoted to the study of estuaries and brackish waters. EsReC consists of three research divisions: Environmental Change Division, Environmental Fluid Dynamics Division, and Aquatic Ecology Division.
The Environmental Fluid Dynamic Research Division focuses on hydrodynamics in various water bodies to further the understanding of, not only the physical aspects, but also biological and chemical features of brackish waters. The primary research focus of this division is on the complex environments created in regions where fresh and saline waters mix. This division also conducts research on rivers and coastal zones, which are important for understanding brackish water environments. In addition, this division specializes in water issues associated with artificial reservoirs, such as algal blooms, turbidity, and water temperature problems.
