Research at the Meteorology and Air Quality Group aims to further the understanding of atmospheric processes and their relevance for weather, air quality and climate. Research focuses on the atmospheric boundary layer, including boundary layer clouds, and the atmospheric aspects of the connected energy, water, carbon and aerosol budgets.
We are looking for
an enthusiastic Lecturer (32-38 hours) that will be actively involved in the education of the chair group Meteorology and Air Quality. The tasks are: coordination and teaching of one or more courses (Bsc level), BSc-thesis supervision, assistance in tutorials and practicals, support in organizational tasks (scheduling, examination, maintenance electronic learning environment, contacts with students, outreach), innovation in individual courses and between courses (contents, teaching methods, learning trajectories) and acquisition of funding for educational innovation.
- A completed PhD in atmospheric sciences or related fields and affinity with the field of meteorology and air quality.
- Experience in academic education, both in teaching and in the development of education; preferably having a teaching qualification (either 1st degree secondary education, or university teaching (UTQ)), or willingness to obtain the UTQ.
Strong communication skills, both in writing and speaking, in English (at least level C1, willing to work towards level C2) and preferably Dutch.
- Affinity with students.
- Initiative, creativity, accuracy and goal-orientation.
- Organizational skills and a collaborative attitude.
The position has scale 11, depending on your knowledge and experience. The appointment is for minimally 32 and maximally 38 hours per week, for a period of one year, with good performance and positive operating results a permanent employment contract is possible.
Furthermore, WU has excellent secondary labour conditions among which a December bonus of 8,3% on an annual basis. We offer flexibility in many areas, including a regulation concerning an up-to-date mobility package (Optare), a bicycle plan and flexible working hours. Finally: proper development options are in place and an excellent pension schema (via ABP).
