Postdoctoral research fellowship in the field of near-coast geoid and SSH modelling
Tallinn University of Technology (TalTech)
Tallinn University of Technology (TalTech) is the flagship of Estonian engineering and technology education. TalTech is Estonia’s most innovative university, as confirmed by the Estonian universities’ reputation survey. TalTech is especially known for its innovation in the field of digital technologies and engineering. Founded in 1918, TalTech is located in Tallinn, the capital of Estonia, and is currently the most international university in the country with around 1600 international degree students coming from over 90 different countries. TalTech is ranked 601-650 in the QS World University Rankings with subfields such as Engineering and Technology, and Business Administration ranked 451-500. At TalTech, we make real things, such as self-driving cars or the TTÜ100 satellite. We offer an opportunity to study in a modern digital campus where many of the most recent technologies are tested and implemented on the daily basis.
Ocean Sciences (OS)
The geodesy group of the Tallinn University of Technology, Estonia, is seeking a postdoctoral fellow for participation in the research project “An Iterative Approach for Near-Coast Marine Geoid Modelling”, for more details see http://gece.ttu.ee/~geoid . The objectives of the project are as follows:
Development of a hybrid machine learning approach to determine accurate sea surface heights by utilizing satellites, in-situ and model data
Improvements in hydrodynamic models (HDM) by using synergy of data,
Near-coast improvements in marine geoid modelling and SSH.
The successful candidate is expected to contribute interactively with all the objectives especially with research interest of the first two sub-fields outlined above. The successful candidate should have a PhD either in satellite altimetry, ocean modelling, geodesy or related field. Advanced programming, post-processing and data management/analysis skills are required. He/she should be fluent in the English (speaking and writing) and possess teamworking abilities. The position is offered for 12-18 months (negotiable).
Applicants should send (a) a statement of research experience, qualification and interest, (b) a complete CV including a list of publications, and c) contact of two references by e-mail to Prof. Artu Ellmann (firstname.lastname@example.org)
