Subject: Apple Microbiome: effect of environmental conditions and a source of microorganisms to improve fruit quality
We are looking for candidates (MSCs in Biology, Microbiology, Biotechnology and similar o related degrees) interested in a pre-doctoral contract to start during the last quarter of the year. This contract is a collaboration between the University of Lleida and IRTA, and the candidate will be able to use and take advantage of the facilities and conditions of both institutions.
The candidate would carry out his / her research work on the topic “Apple Microbiome: effect of environmental conditions and a source of microorganisms to improve fruit quality”. It is a multidisiplinary project since involves pathological studies (to know how the environmental conditions can affect apple susceptibility to the main postharvest pathogens), metagenomics data analysis (to decipher the microbial populations in the apple surface depending on the environmental conditions) and the application of postharvest treatments (to know how the selected microorganisms can influence apple quality).
1. Graduated in Biology, Microbiology, Biotechnology or related degrees
