Multiple Ph.D. research assistant positions (up to 3) are available in the Geosensing Systems Engineering & Sciences (GSES) program at the University of Houston to work with Dr. Surui Xie (PI). The group emphasizes the use of geodetic and remote sensing techniques to study crustal deformation, coastal subsidence and sea level change, as well as changes in the cryosphere. For a brief overview of currently active research areas, please see https://suruixie.github.io/research/.
The Ph.D. assistantship provides support that will cover tuition, stipend, health insurance, etc. Students with degrees in Geodesy, Geomatics, Remote Sensing, Earth and Ocean Sciences, Mathematics, or Computer Science are particularly encouraged to apply. The application process and forms can be found on the University of Houston Civil & Environmental Engineering department website (https://www.cive.uh.edu/admissions/civil-engineering/application-forms). Motivated students who are interested in working with Dr. Surui Xie are also encouraged to fill in the Online Form at https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx?id=vboLF_CikEytSw6PDwxCWfDPu5d49wZLkqS7gRDyh3VUOUdSR08zOTkwMUpBUDRSNlNNMTIwNjhRVy4u, and will be contacted if further information is needed. The deadline for admission into the graduate program of Geosensing Systems Engineering & Sciences for the Fall semester is February 1st; and the deadline for the Spring semester is September 1st.
