Institute of Geosciences / University of São Paulo
The Institute of Geosciences of the University of São Paulo aims to provide the highest level of undergraduate and graduate professional training in Geosciences, with the aim of contributing to scientific and technological development and collaborating to improve social and economic conditions.
These activities are carried out in an integrated way with the carrying out of relevant and quality scientific research in nearly all fundamental areas of Geosciences, in addition to studies focused on prospecting and mining of mineral goods, hydrogeology, and geological aspects of planning the territorial occupation and of protecting the environment.
The Institute also aims to provide the Brazilian population with access to scientific and technological information in Geosciences.
Its permanent objectives include:
- Make the profession of geologist better known.
- Train human resources (Undergraduate and Graduate) at a level of excellence.
