Stockholm University

The Department of Environmental Science (ACES) at Stockholm University is one of the largest departments in the Faculty of Science at SU. The department has a strong focus on research, spanning from couplings between climate change and biogeochemical cycles (atmosphere-land-ocean) to the sources, transport and effects of environmental contaminants. At the Unit for Biogeochemistry we are studying many aspects of the composition and functioning of the Earth system and large-scale biogeochemical cycles, and how these are affected by and are feeding back on anthropogenic perturbations such as climate warming. One of our prioritized long-standing research areas are how air pollution in particularly South Asia affects the gas and aerosol composition of the atmosphere, and how it affects the climate. Our research-oriented department hosts about 30 post-doc fellows and 60 Ph.D. students, recruited from all over the world. We are also immersed in the interdepartmental Bolin Centre for Climate Research, a national center of excellence.

Job description

We are currently recruiting a post-doc to Stockholm University, Dept of Environ Science – Bolin Centre for Climate Research.
The incoming person would join a long-term program studying the nexus of air pollution and climate change in megacities and at receptor observatories in South Asia (e.g., India, Bangladesh and the Maldives).
The post-doc project would focus on applying multiple-isotope systematics to study sources and atmospheric dynamics of key greenhouse gases such as CH4, CO and CO2. Hands-on experience with GCirMS is essential. Additional experience with compound-specific isotope analysis/interpretation and laser (isotope) spectrometry instruments is beneficial, as is a proven ability to teamwork and publish.
