Invitation for expressions of interest on PhD studies in Seismology at the University of Lisbon
Instituto Dom Luiz/Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade de Lisboa
The Earth Systems Doctoral program, hosted by Instituto Dom Luiz (IDL), University of Lisbon, and funded through the Portuguese science foundation (https://www.fct.pt/en/) will soon launch a call for applications for individual PhD fellowships open to international applicants.
ERC-funded UPFLOW project, led by University College London, UK (https://upflow-eu.github.io/), deployed 50 Ocean Bottom Seismometers in the Azores-Canaries region, north Atlantic, in collaboration with IDL. Possible PhD projects within the framework of UPFLOW may be funded at the University of Lisbon in collaboration with UCL in the following topics:
+ Crustal structure of the Azores-Madeira-Canary Islands region from ambient noise ellipticity data and autocorrelation analysis (Prof. G. Silveira, Prof. A. Ferreira)
+ 3D crustal and mantle structure of the East mid-Atlantic region using active seismic data recorded by the UPFLOW OBS array (Dr. M. Neres, Prof. S Custodio, Prof. A. Ferreira, Dr. Stephen Hicks)
Applicants with an interest on these topics are encouraged to contact as soon as possible Prof. Graca Silveira (mdsilveira@ciencias.ulisboa.pt) or Dr. Marta Neres (marta.neres@ipma.pt) to discuss the PhD fellowship application process.
