Postdoctoral Position in Atmospheric Chemistry
Seoul National University
A postdoctoral position is available in the Atmospheric Chemistry Monitoring and Modeling Lab (Supervisor: Prof. Hwajin Kim) at the Seoul National University in South Korea.
The successful candidate will focus on among (1) the investigation of secondary organic aerosol (SOA) formation from various precursors based on laboratory oxidation flow reactor experiments and their physico-chemical properties (volatility, oxidation potential etc.) and (2) the understanding the aerosol and VOC sources and evolution from field campaigns (2024 ASIA-AQ etc).(3) Optical properties of BC/BrC and their potential source. A large suite of start-of-the-art instrumentation is available for chemical characterization of aerosols and gas-phase compounds, including a Soot Particle Aerosol Mass Spectrometer (SP-AMS), a Proton Transfer Time-of-Flight Mass Spectrometer (PTR-Tof-MS) and offline analytical instruments.
Requirements:
Applicants should hold a PhD degree in atmospheric science, chemistry, engineering, environmental science or a closely related field. A strong background in aerosol chemistry is required, with prior experience with mass spectrometry or related instruments preferred. Experience in complex data analysis (Igor Pro, Matlab etc) is desirable.
To apply, please submit a cover letter describing your research interests, a CV, date of availability, contact information of 2~3 references, to Prof. Hwajin Kim (khj0116@snu.ac.kr), with the subject of ‘Postdoc Application_Name’. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled. The initial appointment will be for one year, with possibility of extension depending on performance.
