Soil System Sciences (SSS)
Requirements to fill the position:
This postdoctoral position requires technical and theoretical skills in the field of Earth System Sciences, with in-depth experience in analyzes and interpretations of soil organic carbon, δ13C, δ15N, respiration and soil greenhouse gases, physicochemical properties of soil and handling large sets of field data. Knowledge of analyzes and interpretations of soil pyrolysis. This research plan opens up new opportunities for the collaborative training of young scientists and students, enriching the group’s ability to produce cutting-edge science. This project will provide a unique opportunity for the PD to be part of and interact with an experienced research team made up of a recognized group of scientists. All of them come together with the purpose of working on one of the planet’s most pressing environmental problems, quantifying carbon dynamics and greenhouse gas emissions resulting from land use change to develop clean solutions and sustainable paths. The plan is open to the PD to provide key intellectual and technical contributions in the implementation and development of the proposed research, which will also be beneficial to the fellow’s professional development.
The candidate must have obtained the doctorate degree less than 7 years ago, priority for candidates who have just completed their doctorate, within the regular duration, with an excellent academic record in postgraduate studies. The scholarship requires total dedication to the research project (except under the conditions described in resolution PR 13/2009 of July 15, 2009). The scholarship holder cannot have any formal or informal job, nor receive, during the scholarship period, a scholarship from another entity, salary or remuneration derived from carrying out activities of any nature. To receive the scholarship, the selected candidate must present all the documentation required by FAPESP. For more details, visit:http://www.fapesp.br/270.
The delivery deadline is Dezember 13, 2023, 24:00, Brasilia time zone (BRT or UTC-3). Registration is done exclusively via the emails below. Include the subject “PD Project Pyro-carbon of the Amazon soil”, followed by your name, and send the documents in PDF format.
Send the following documents to: email@example.com
1. Updated CV including all your publications (with a link to Lattes Curriculum, or Google Scholar, or ORCID or ResearchID);
2. A copy of the academic record of the postgraduate course;
3. A motivation letter highlighting your background and research interests (in English), PhD completion date, number of publications, number of citations and H index (Scopus or Google Scholar database).
After selection, we will need a research plan considering the objectives mentioned in this announcement, following FAPESP instructions, available at http://www.fapesp.br/270.
Candidates will be selected by a committee of the project’s principal investigators based on their CVs (experience in the project’s research area and the number and quality of publications) and their letters of introduction and motivation. Shortlisted candidates may be invited for an online interview. The selected candidate must present the necessary documents to apply for a FAPESP scholarship within 15 days of approval.
