Job description

The BMBF-funded joint project Integrated Greenhouse Gas Monitoring System for Germany is designed to enable Germany to operationally monitor the sources and sinks of the three most important greenhouse gases (GHG), CO2, CH4 & N2O via an independent integrative measurement and modelling approach. ITMS will support data-driven GHG monitoring and increase the transparency of climate mitigation measures. In the Module Sources of Sinks of Greenhouse Gas, ITMS develops modelling approaches that make it possible to simulate “a-priori” fluxes of greenhouse gas exchange between the surface and the atmosphere which is of central importance to inform the inverse atmospheric modelling of Module M, alongside observational data provided by Module B.

Within the called Module Q&S projects ARTEMIS, Agri-For-Live & MODELPEAT, several open positions are currently available at the FU Berlin, the Thünen Institute in Braunschweig, the Alpine Campus of the KIT in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, and the Peatland Science Center of the HSWT:

* PostDoc for three years for modeling Greenhouse Gas Emissions from Agricultural and Forest Systems of Germany (KIT IMK-IFU Garmisch- Partenkirchen).
  • PostDoc for three years to simulate greenhouse gas emissions from peatlands in Germany using a GIS-based modeling framework (KIT IMK-IFU Garmisch-Partenkirchen).
  • A scientist with a Master’s or Diploma degree in agricultural or environmental sciences for the modelling of greenhouse gas emissions from agricultural, forestry and livestock farming systems in Germany (Thünen Institute Braunschweig)
  • A Scientist with a Master’s or Diploma Degree for a 3-year period to improve the spatio-temporal variability of Analyzed and near Real-Time greenhouse gas EMISsions for North-Western Europe (FU Berlin).

For further information, please look at the Job Advertisements on the ITMS Webpage: Jobs | Intergrated Greenhouse Gas Monitoring System for Germany
Additional details about Module Q&S and the called projects are available on the Module Q&S page: Module Q&S | Intergrated Greenhouse Gas Monitoring System for Germany.

Stay tuned. More open positions will come soon!
