POSTDOCTORAL ASSOCIATE, Civil and Environmental Engineering, to join Professor Charles Harvey on critically analyzing the role of industrial carbon capture and sequestration (CCS) in reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The research will address questions such as: Why have integrated assessment models consistently over-predicted the growth of CCS?  What does evidence suggest about the true costs and energy requirements of CCS? What industries might be amenable to application of CCS? and How has industry funding affected academic promotion of CCS?

REQUIRED:  Ph.D. in energy systems, environmental economics, environmental policy, or related field; skillset in hydrology, biogeochemistry, ecology, mathematical modeling, field measurements, and technical writing; ability to communicate effectively and work both independently and on a multidisciplinary research team; strong quantitative skills; broad understanding of issues related to reducing greenhouse gas emissions; and an interest in environmental justice.  PREFERRED:  familiarity with energy systems models. Job #23626
