Job description

We’re seeking a qualified Postdoctoral Researcher to contribute to our project on “The Evolution of Venus: Coronae, Subsurface Structure, and Volcano-Tectonics (HECATE)” at the University of Padova, Department of Geosciences.

Apply now: https://www.geoscienze.unipd.it/selezione-1-assegno-lo-svolgimento-di-attivit%C3%A0-di-ricerca-tipo-titolo-l%E2%80%99evoluzione-di-venere-coron-1

The successful candidate will be responsible for producing numerical models of Venus’s subsurface evolution, with a specific focus on understanding the tectonic processes associated with coronae formation. Working closely with the DLR, Berlin, the researcher will analyze the magmatic history and present-day magmatic processes on Venus.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Produce numerical models of Venus’s subsurface evolution
  • Apply geodynamical thermal evolution models to analyze magmatic history
  • Investigate the presence of volatiles in the Venusian subsurface
  • Collaborate closely with the DLR, Berlin, to ensure the success of the project

Requirements:

  • PhD in Geophysics or Geosciences or related field (or about to complete)
  • Strong background in numerical modeling and geodynamics
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team
