Job description

As part of the IDEA-S4S cooperation between Germany and Italy in the field of meteorology and climatology, an international, research-oriented Master‘s degree program in ‘Climate Sciences’ is to be created. On the German side, the University of Cologne and the University of Bonn are involved, whereby the advertised position is located at the University of Cologne only. The University of Bologna is involved on the Italian side.

YOUR TASKS
» Development of research-oriented teaching formats addressing emerging topics in climate science, particularly those associated with the rapidly developing field of machine learning. Potential research areas are, for example, boundary layer meteorology, cloud physics, hydrology, palaeoclimate, Earth Observation or Earth system modelling across scales
» Implementation of joint (block) courses with Italian partners, possibly associated with field campaigns and/ or summer schools (teaching commitment 4 SWS)
» Contributions to the (to be established) Master program “Climate Science”
» Independent research in one of the fields mentioned above
» Intensification of ERASMUS and exchange activities with the Italian partners, starting with first joint teaching activities
» Design and support of joint Bachelor‘s and Master‘s theses between Italy and Germany
