Post -doc position entitled “Multiscale analysis of marine remote sensing satellite data”
The objectives of this project will be to use environmental satellite data (CFOSAT, Sentinel, SWOT) for two objectives. The first objective will be to detect and track marine environment disasters, such as macroalgae blooms, and to characterize their spatial shape using tools from statistical physics (e.g. power spectral analysis, scaling, and multifractal methods). The second objective is to use a Machine-Learning-Based optical flow method to extract ocean surface velocity fields from passive turbulence remote sensing data obtained from a geostationary satellite (e.g. chlorophyll, salinity or temperature fields). This technique will be validated using data from an ocean model and compared with reconstructions from the SWOT satellite.
The project is funded by Dragon 6, a collaboration between ESA (European Space Agency) and China (MOST – Ministry of Science and Technology), project title “Monitoring of marine dynamics and marine environment disasters with multiple satellites data”.
Supervision will be provided by Dr. F.G. Schmitt (CNRS, LOG, France), Y. Xu (NSOAS, Beijig, and Y. Huang (Xiamen University, MEL, China)
