Job description

About the Lab: Dr. Mengze Li’s lab at the National University of Singapore (NUS) studies atmospheric composition and carbon cycle using models, observations, and data science. Projects span urban air quality, biogenic and fire emissions, and national greenhouse gas budgets. We collaborate across Singapore and internationally. For details, please visit: https://discovery.nus.edu.sg/29567-mengze-li.

We are looking for highly motivated PhD candidates to study urban, biogenic, or fire emissions and chemistry using atmospheric chemistry modeling.

Examples of topics include:

  • Emissions and chemistry  (e.g., urban, ship tracks, biomass burning, biogenic, fire)
  • Secondary pollutant formation
  • Model-measurement evaluation with satellite, ground networks, and campaign data

Desired qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in atmospheric science, environmental engineering, physics, chemistry, data science, or related.
  • Experience with at least one relevant modeling tool (e.g., WRF, CMAQ, GEOS-Chem, CAMx)
  • Programming proficiency in Python/R/Fortran/Matlab
  • Strong quantitative skills and clear scientific writing and communication in English

What we offer:

  • Funding per NUS PhD scholarship guidelines (see https://fass.nus.edu.sg/geog/application/)
  • Supportive mentoring and a diverse, inclusive team culture.
