Job description

Role of Atlantic SST variability modes in modulating marine heatwaves. IO-USP (São Paulo, Brazil), Supervisor: Prof. Ilana Wainer. The fellow will analyze multi-model large ensembles and reanalyses to quantify how Atlantic SST-based modes (e.g., AMV, equatorial variability) modulate MHW occurrence/intensity across interannual–multidecadal timescales. Required: PhD in physical oceanography/climate science, strong Python/xarray/dask, statistics/time-series, Linux/HPC. Desired: experience with MHW detection, Atlantic variability, ensemble methods
