Chiba University invites applications for a Researcher to work on the project “Reducing Climate Projection Uncertainty with Data Assimilation as Emergent Constraints” (funded by the Environmental Research and Technology Development Fund), starting in 2025. The project aims to advance the methodology of Emergent Constraints for reducing climate projection uncertainty by applying data assimilation techniques. Depending on the applicant’s interests, the research may focus on one or more of the following themes:
•Development of methodologies for reducing climate projection uncertainty using Emergent Constraints with data assimilation
•Impact assessment of novel atmospheric observations and optimization of observation networks
•Development of cloud-resolving models incorporating water isotopes
•Drone-based observations of cloud and precipitation processes
•Estimation of climate model parameters using water isotope information
