The Science Center for the Development of Water Security in Critical Zones, supported by FAPESP and located at IAG/USP, offers a Postdoctoral (PD) Fellowship to develop weather radar algorithms for nowcasting of rainfall, flash floods, floods, and urban flooding based on the TITAN software methodology with the implementation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Artificial Neural Network (ANN) techniques. The algorithm will use data from the X and S band polarimetric weather radars available in the project for hydroclimatological applications in Water Security, with an emphasis on the Metropolitan Region of São Paulo.
The candidate must have experience in: weather radar, developing weather radar nowcasting software for rainfall forecasting, forecasting urban flooding, flash floods, and floods, Computer programming, AI modeling and ANN, GIS tools and statistical analysis.
The position is open to citizens of all nationalities. The FAPESP Postdoctoral Fellowship provides a monthly stipend of R$ 12,570.00, 36 months, and additional 10% of Technical Reserve for research-related expenses. More details visit https://fapesp.br/en/postdoc.
