Job description

The Tectonic Geodesy working group at RUB is developing approaches to improve geodetic monitoring of active plate boundaries. Broadly, this includes the development of low-cost GNSS densification, tectonic-geodetic data analysis techniques, and geophysical modelling strategies. We collaborate internationally to capture and model some of the world’s most interesting tectonic transient motions while exploiting state of the art computational techniques to advance the spatial and temporal resolution of tectonic processes.

We are looking for someone to join our team as a postdoctoral researcher. The ideal candidate should have some research experience and continued interest in the topics of earthquake cycle geophysics, continental scale geodynamics, and tectonic geodesy, although candidates from related research fields are also welcome to apply.

Your tasks:

  • Your own research on topics that align with the above-mentioned research directions of the working group
  • Teaching related activities

Your profile:

  • You must have completed a PhD in a geophysics, tectonic geodesy, or related field
  • Experience with scientific computer programming
  • Some teaching experience (preferable but not a must)

RUB sees itself as a university with an international presence. The campus languages are German and English. Competence in at least one of the two languages and the willingness to learn the other are a prerequisite. RUB provides corresponding free courses for employees.
