Researcher positions within regional ocean modelling
Ocean Sciences (OS)
The Danish Meteorological Institute (DMI) has an opening for full-time researcher positions on the regional ocean modelling team. The successful applicants will be part of an oceanographic team within the Weather Research Department, working broadly on ocean modelling, reanalysis, marine climate simulations, and operational development tasks. The duration of the contracts can vary from 1 to 3 years, depending on the candidate's qualifications, and will be agreed upon during the interview and contract stages.
You will be working on research projects focused on assessing extreme sea levels in both current and future climate states. Specifically, DMI has recently been tasked with assessing future extreme sea levels along the Danish coasts, to e.g. inform climate adaptation. For this purpose, you will be working with the HBM ocean model (https://ocean.dmi.dk/models/hbm.uk.php), which is currently used for general forecasts and warnings for society, including on the DMI homepage (www.dmi.dk), and for various research purposes. Wave modelling will also be part of the work for one of the successful applicants, using the current DMI operational and research wave model, WAM (https://ocean.dmi.dk/models/wam.uk.php). The position in the Ocean and Dispersion Modelling unit also employs the NEMO ocean model for several applications. We wish to note that skilled applicants with experience in other oceanic models or geoscience modelling applications are also relevant for these positions.
We will evaluate applications from both junior- and senior-level applicants. Please highlight your experiences and skills explicitly in oceanic modelling, computational environments, coding and data processing, research and operational development in the application.
