The University of St Andrews seeks to appoint a Chair (with rank of professor) within the School of Earth and Environmental Sciences. The successful candidate will be an outstanding scholar of international standing within the field of Earth and environmental sciences, with a proven track record of world-leading, high-impact, externally-funded research in an area which strengthens and complements existing School activities. In addition, the successful candidate is expected to make outstanding contributions to impact and/or public outreach, and to prominently represent the University of St Andrews in the UK and internationally.
Candidates will hold a doctorate in a cognate discipline. To facilitate excellence in research, impact and/or outreach, the position will have a significantly reduced teaching and administration load for the first five years, along with a generous support package. The primary criteria for appointment will be evidence of: (1) an outstanding track record of world-leading research; (2) sustained success in securing external research funding; and (3) an ambitious and credible vision for delivering significant impact beyond academia.
