EGU is supporting 12 training schools and conferences in 2023 – apply for 2024 funding now!
25 May 2023
The EGU has announced the 10 training schools in the Earth, planetary and space sciences for which it will provide financial support in 2023. The EGU will also sponsor two Galileo Conferences, for a combined total of 66,000€ of funding.
EGU has selected 10 training schools organised and run by Early Career Scientists in 2023 to receive a combined total of 50,000€, which will cover a wide variety of geoscience topics ranging from natural hazards in the anthropocene to foraminifera and urban wetlands.
This year the EGU will also contribute approximately 16,000€ to two Galileo Conferences, which address well-focused, cutting-edge topics at the frontier of geosciences research. The successful proposals were for the Solid Earth and Geohazards in the Exascale Era meeting, which is currently underway (23–26 May 2023) in Barcelona, Spain, and the A European vision for hydrological observations and experimentation meeting will take place between 12–15 June 2023 in Naples, Italy.
Over the last few years EGU has been pleased to support a diverse range of training schools, which offer Early Career Scientists specialist training opportunities that they normally don’t have access to at their home institutions, and conferences, which encourage sustained dialogue within specialist research communities. Funding for the training schools will be increased in 2024, to an approximate amount of 6000€ and the conference series support will once again be 5000€ (with the possibility of some specialist costs allocated for the conference series).
The Mary Anning Conferences which aim to promote novel and innovative research related to biogeochemical cycles in the Earth system, is currently accepting funding proposals. The conferences intend to bring together experienced and early career scientists for an interdisciplinary discussion on all aspects of chemical, physical, and biological processes and their interactions in the atmosphere, cryosphere, hydrosphere, lithosphere and biosphere.
To apply for funding in 2024 please head to the information pages to check the requirements and benefits then submit your training school proposal or submit your conference series proposal today!
