She aims to assess the significance of sustainable management practices in alleviating the impact of global warming on climate-sensitive regions.
Home / Jobs / One PhD studentship in peatland ecohydrological modeling
This student will develop an ecohydrological model, which is coupled with carbon cycling model, to study how human disturbances and climate change affect the ecohydrological processes in northern peatlands. The starting date for these positions is May 2026, but an earlier starting date is also possible, upon discussion. How to apply If you are interested, please send a letter of motivation/research statement, evidence of English Proficiency for international students), up-to-date curriculum vitae, unofficial transcripts, and a copy of any publication (if available) to Dr.

Home / Awards & medals / Outstanding Student Poster (OSP) Awards / 2012 / Eszter Szűcs
She is currently a research associate at the Geodetic and Geophysical Institute of the Research Centre for Astronomy and Earth Sciences, Hungarian Academy of Sciences. Her research is focused on the determination of the geoid combining different kinds of terrestrial measurements, especially torsion balance data, in least squares collocation and spectral combination techniques.
Home / Awards & medals / Outstanding Student and PhD candidate Presentation (OSPP) Awards / 2023 / Marius Schlaak
The poster illustrates the first steps towards the expected accuracy gain of the Mass Change and Geoscience International Constellation (MAGIC) concerning the observation of long-term trends in ocean heat content (OHC) compared to current satellite gravity missions. The respective missions are compared in their capabilities to resolve long-term trends in the mass component of the sea-level rise.
Home / Awards & medals / Outstanding Student and PhD candidate Presentation (OSPP) Awards / 2025 / Gerlinde Timmermann
Gerlinde Timmermann is a PhD candidate at the Institute of Geophysics and Extraterrestrial Physics of Technische Universität Braunschweig, working in the group of Space Physics and Space Sensorics of Ferdinand Plaschke. Gerlinde's work focuses on magnetometers in space and their characteristics like noise and offset levels, i.e. instrument readings in vanishing ambient fields.
Home / Awards & medals / Outstanding Student and PhD candidate Presentation (OSPP) Awards / 2025 / Sara M. Vallejo-Bernal
She is currently a postdoctoral fellow at the Institute for Earth System Science and Remote Sensing at Leipzig University. Her research focuses on investigating the dynamics and impacts of atmospheric rivers through the lens of complexity science. In her work presented at EGU25, Sara examined the role of atmospheric rivers in the occurrence of heavy precipitation events and precipitation-induced landslides in North America.
Home / Awards & medals / Outstanding Student and PhD candidate Presentation (OSPP) Awards / 2024 / Daniel Boateng
The findings indicate that accurate simulation of African climate variability under future climate change will require improvements in both land-atmosphere feedbacks and large-scale atmospheric dynamics in climate models.
