The poster illustrates the first steps towards the expected accuracy gain of the Mass Change and Geoscience International Constellation (MAGIC) concerning the observation of long-term trends in ocean heat content (OHC) compared to current satellite gravity missions. The respective missions are compared in their capabilities to resolve long-term trends in the mass component of the sea-level rise.

Gerlinde Timmermann is a PhD candidate at the Institute of Geophysics and Extraterrestrial Physics of Technische Universität Braunschweig, working in the group of Space Physics and Space Sensorics of Ferdinand Plaschke. Gerlinde's work focuses on magnetometers in space and their characteristics like noise and offset levels, i.e. instrument readings in vanishing ambient fields.

She is currently a postdoctoral fellow at the Institute for Earth System Science and Remote Sensing at Leipzig University. Her research focuses on investigating the dynamics and impacts of atmospheric rivers through the lens of complexity science. In her work presented at EGU25, Sara examined the role of atmospheric rivers in the occurrence of heavy precipitation events and precipitation-induced landslides in North America.

Particularly, I analyze influence of directivity effect, super-shear ruptures and medium scattering due to random heterogeneities present in the earth structure on ground-shaking. In the EGU 2016 poster, we analyzed distance and azimuthal dependence of the intra-event groundmotion variability for large-scale simulations of the 1992 Landers earthquake and scenario earthquake in Southern California.

These collaborations led to studies of various natural hazards, including landslides, volcanoes, and tsunamis. Using outstanding skills in mechanical modelling and profound understanding of physical processes, she developed a set of concepts that are now used to model the onset and propagation of these geohazards.
