Planet Press started a few months ago with only some of EGU’s press releases written in a language clear to young children. Now, all of EGU ’s 22 science press releases issued to date have a corresponding kids version . Each Planet Press has been reviewed by at least one researcher (working in the scientific area of the press release) and by one educator.

He extracted faint, gradual changes from continuous seismic data at the well-instrumented Parkfield section of the San Andreas Fault in California. By analysing two decades of records, Okubo connected small variations in wave speed to evolving properties of the fault region, offering a direct view of how a fault changes between large events.

She and her collaborators investigate the impacts of implementing advanced three-component polarization filtering in the time-frequency domain before applying conventional stacking to the data recorded by AlpArray. This investigation highlights the advantages and effectiveness of this approach in suppressing shear and surface waves and enhancing the SNR of phases from the deep mantle and core.

23 May 2024 EGU is pleased to welcome our new President of the Union, Peter van der Beek, who will serve as Union President until the end of his elected term in 2027. Peter brings a wealth of expertise to this role, having previously served as Division President of the EGU Geomorphology Division (2015-2019) and Programme Committee chair (2020-2022).
