Home / Awards & medals / Outstanding Student Poster and PICO (OSPP) Awards / 2018 / Katarzyna Dudzisz
Her PhD study is funded by the Leading National Research Centre (KNOW) (03/KNOW2/2014) received by the Centre for Polar Studies for the period 2014–2018. In her research, she is interested in a variation of magnetic properties in the sedimentary rocks and an application of anisotropy of magnetic susceptibility (AMS) to solve geological and tectonic problems, e.g., the origin of the West Spitsbergen Fold and Thrust Belt.
Home / Awards & medals / Division Outstanding Early Career Scientist Awards / 2025 / Johannes Jakob Lohmann
He has in recent years made significant advances in the theoretical understanding of multi-stability and tipping points in the climate as a chaotic, heterogeneous, and non-autonomous complex system. With an emphasis on the Atlantic ocean’s circulation, he showed that a complicated form of rate-induced tipping can occur, which may lead to a loss of predictability of the future climate state.

Home / Awards & medals / Division Outstanding Early Career Scientist Awards / 2025 / Carolina Giorgetti
One of Giorgetti's most notable achievements was the conception, development, and calibration of a groundbreaking biaxial prototype apparatus at EPFL and the unique contribution in the development of other two prototypes in Roma. Her exceptional scientific acumen and tenacity were evident in her ability to overcome challenges and ensure the operational success of the prototypes.

June The 13th Summer School on Sensitivity Analysis of Model Output (SAMO 2026) Fiesole (Florence), Italy 8–12 June 2026 SAMO 2026 covers how to perform sensitivity analysis in simulation modelling, as it has a crucial role in policy and policy-making. It provides an introduction to Global Sensitivity Analysis (GSA) — one of the most powerful tools for knowledge and understanding understanding complex models.
