The ECS group of the NH Division is happy to share a series of online workshops and webinars aiming to (i) promote the NH division ECS group and its activities to increase participation and networking, (ii) provide ECSs (but not limited to) a safe space to meet and discuss, (iii) provide ECSs (but not limited to) an informal yet effective training moment, to improve personal and professional skills This first webinar will cover the basics of writing a research article for publication in an academic journal.
Home / Emergency support
If you are a researcher in the field of Earth, planetary and space science affected by an emergency situation, EGU offers a variety of support options to help you gain access to EGU’s range of tools, resources and opportunities. Key amongst these is the EGU Emergency Support Policy.
Home / News / Webinars and online events / Meet the Editors
Whilst this is becoming more common, it can still raise questions about what this means in terms of copyright, the reviewing process and citing the discussion phase. In this webinar, you will hear from several editors at the EGU journals about the publishing process – from submission to acceptance.
Home / Awards & medals / Outstanding Student and PhD candidate Presentation (OSPP) Awards / 2022 / Simone Francesco Fornasari
His PhD project focuses on real-time seismic monitoring, the development of new approaches to estimate ground motion parameters in existing workflows and their integration with existing workflows. At EGU 2022, Simone presented a new data-driven algorithm, consisting of an ensemble of convolutional neural networks trained on a database of ground-shaking maps produced with traditional algorithms, that exploits the information from the station data only to provide estimates of the ground-shaking maps and their associated uncertainties in real-time.

Ö.; Smit, J.; Ocakoğlu, F.; Fornaciari, E.; Vonhof, H.; Altıner, S. Ö.) Click here to download the poster/PICO file. Sanem Açıkalın finished her PhD at Department of Geological Engineering of the Eskisehir Osmangazi University (Turkey) in June 2011. Her research interest focuses on reconstruction of the paleoclimatic and paleoceanographic conditions of the basins and distinguishing records of local events from global ones.
Home / Awards & medals / John Dalton Medal / 1998 / James C.I. Dooge
The medal is named after John Dalton of Manchester, known to all scientists for contributions to atomic theory. The Hydrological Sciences Section, after much debate, decided to name its first medal after John Dalton in recognition of the first water balance at large scale which he made of England and Wales at the beginning of the 19th century.

Tsunami-flood maps have been produced with up to 5m-resolution showing the results of six scenarios tested using three tidal levels and two seismic source models. Results attest to the importance of the sand barrier in reducing the tsunami wave height at the estuarine side, and model floods in all channels.
Home / Awards & medals / Virtual Outstanding Student and PhD candidate Presentation (vOSPP) Awards / 2021 / Maximillian Van Wyk de Vries
He is particularly involved with the building of new remote sensing tools to assess changes in glacier flow dynamics and the interactions between landslides and glaciers. In this EGU presentation, an international team of scientists worked closely together to assess the conditions of the deadly February 2021 Chamoli landslide prior to its collapse.
