The blogs moved to blogs.egu.eu in December 2014. 2008 Atmospheric Measurement Techniques The Atmospheric Measurement Techniques (AMT) journal is launched in August. The journal is dedicated to the publication and discussion of advances in remote sensing, as well as in situ and laboratory measurement techniques for the constituents and properties of the Earth’s atmosphere.
Home / Awards & medals / Vening Meinesz Medal / 2021 / Christopher Jekeli
It provides a comprehensive theoretical framework and clarifies the role of the Earth gravity field in inertial navigation. His research on airborne gravimetry has enabled the tremendous success of the measurement technique in many regions of our Earth, including the polar areas.
Home / Awards & medals / Sergey Soloviev Medal / 2015 / John C. Eichelberger
His scientific activity and career demonstrate how a lucid understanding of the processes at the basis of magma and volcano dynamics can be vividly translated into critical contributions in the evaluation of natural hazards. Eichelberger is one of the genuine visionaries in the field of geosciences, and his contributions to the understanding of volcanic and magmatic processes have been spectacular and long-lasting.
Home / Awards & medals / Ian McHarg Medal / 2013 / Alessandro Annoni
With his success in the technical coordination of the INSPIRE Directive 2007/2/EC, which is a major European contribution to the Global Earth Observation System of Systems (GEOSS) of the Group on Earth Observations (GEO), and his work as co‐chair in GEO’s Architecture and Data Committee, Annoni is contributing to the vision of having global interoperable infrastructures where professionals in the field can access and share more efficiently spatial resources.

10 September 2013 The Geosciences Information For Teachers workshop is taking place on April 27–30 2014 at the EGU General Assembly in Vienna, Austria. The topic of the 2014 edition of GIFT is Our Changing Planet and the workshop will explore some of the recent complex changes of our environment, particularly in the framework of the Fifth Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change ( IPCC ).

He has also been one of the leading figures in establishing the qualitative and quantitative importance of tillage erosion – mechanical translocation of sediment in ploughed fields that often carries more material than other processes except during exceptional storms.
