EGU HydroTalks: Jan Seibert on experimental catchment, riparian model and OSPP awards
Welcome to HydroTalks, the new podcast series of the EGU Hydrological Sciences (HS) Division. Every month, we interview experts about the advancements, challenges, and opportunities in the field of hydrology.
For episode 5 of Hydrotalks, we’re thrilled to welcome Prof. Jan Seibert, based at the Department of Geography, University of Zurich. His research focuses on hydrological modelling under landscape change, citizen science through the CrowdWater app, and large-scale modelling studies.
He is also the Henry Darcy medal winner of 2025. We talked about his research on using high-quality data for large-scale hydrological models, the advantages of experimental catchments and the challenges those are facing and riparian models. Jan also shared his experience of pioneering EGU's OSPP awards, supervising PhDs and his advice for the early career scientists.
