Elifuraha Saria is a current PhD Student at Purdue University (USA) in the Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences under Professor Eric Calais. He obtained his Bachelor at the University of Dar es Salaam (2003) and his Masters at Ardhi University (2006), both located in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. He is currently an assistant Lecturer at Ardhi University where he teaches Geodesy, Engineering and Mining Surveying to undergraduate students.

Mr. Saria’s Research interests concern geodetic reference frames, the combination of space geodetic solutions, and the kinematics of plate boundaries zones. His main tool is Global Positioning System (GPS) geodesy combined with other geodetic space techniques such as Very long base line Interferometry (VLBI), Satellite Laser ranging (SLR) and DORIS. He has been working with Prof Eric Calais in studying the East African Rift System since 2005 and he is currently investigating the geodetic and geophysical constraints in realizing the Africa Reference frame (AFREF).
